Malaria is a serious disease which is caused by a parasite transported the female Anopheles mosquito. It is a disease responsible for many deaths worldwide where it is more severe in children below the age of five years. The disease is also more severe in pregnant mothers and is responsible for a greater percentage of maternal deaths. It is most synonymous in developing countries which experience warm climates. Malaria can be successfully prevented by ensuring hygienic measures are adopted. These include draining stagnant water around private places which are a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Immunization against malaria is also helpful.

Due to changes taking place in a person’s body system, a person with malaria will experience fever and high temperatures in the entire body. The person becomes weak due to the virus taking effect on the body system of the patient. The high temperatures mostly appear at night, and the person excessively sweats leading to dehydration and advanced fever. If not treated early the fever may advance to a more complicated stage.

Although many illnesses start with a mild headache and progress to a more severe one, malaria infections are followed by a severe headache which bangs the head painfully causing the patient to feel weak and looking exhausted. A headache may persist for some time even after taking medication but will slowly subside as the medication takes effect on the patient. A headache can be subdued by taking painkillers although that is only a short term relieve as you will only be treating symptoms and not the real disease.


This is the act of having a running stomach caused by the release of dead blood cells that are excreted out the body. These cells are destroyed by the malaria virus which fights and overpowers some of the body cells. This dead cell triggers diarrhea causing dehydration and a general weakening of the body which causes the disease to advance.

Patients with Malaria tend to experience intense vomiting which is triggered by the illness causing damage to the body cells. Vomiting weakens the patient’s body and renders the whole body weak and susceptible to other illness. It also causes dehydration in the patient and if not treated in time may even cause death.

Without prompt treatment, malaria becomes severe and may lead to ultimate death within a few hours of exposure.
